Jenn is the sister of one of my former grooms, Jeremiah. I remember Jeremiah and Joanne’s wedding well as both their families were so fun and gracious. I also remember the heartfelt speeches that Jenn and Michael gave during the wedding. When Jenn contacted me about doing her wedding, I was more than excited to see their family again. I had a great time with their family and I was touched that they wanted me back for another wedding. When Jenn told me it was in Maui, I was ecstatic.
Jenn and Mike live up north near San Francisco. When we first discussed their engagement session, we initially thought about doing it in LA. But since the two are from the bay, it made more sense for me to fly up and do their session there. We all felt it was important to do their e-session in an environment that had meaning for them. I flew up on a Sunday morning and the two picked me up at Oakland airport. Actually, the three of them… including their awesome pup, Manny.
We spent the entire day hitting all the sites and using the city as our backdrop. Jenn and Mike are big Giants fans so we definitely had to include AT&T Park. Mike even explained that he was kinda named after Willie Mays (long story) so it was important for him to get some shots in front of Mays’ statue. I’m sure his parents will get a kick out of it too.
Photographing Jenn, Mike, AND Manny in the city they love was the right choice. Doing things that had meaning for them just added so much more to their session. Now, we just gotta top it off with their wedding day. Next stop… Maui ; )
PS. If you’ve been following my other posts… yes it rained.
